Transport for Noboribetsu Onsen: Trains and Buses

Train

Limited express trains run to Noboribetsu (登別: tickets 7am-6.45pm) from Sapporo (1hr; ¥3960), Toya (40min; ¥2200) and Hakodate (2.5hrs; ¥6370).

Practical Tips - JR Noboribetsu Station’s ticket window sells a discount return bus ticket (往復乗車券: o-fuku joshaken) for Noboribetsu Onsen (¥620). This ticket is vailed to Ashiyu iriguchi stop.

Local Buses

Frequent Donan buses (道南バス) run between JR Noboribetsu Station (登別) and Noboribetsu Onsen (登別温泉) Terminal (14min; ¥340).

Infrequent local buses from JR Noboribetsu Station continue to the Ashi-yu iriguchi (足湯入口) at the hotel Sekisuitei, stopping at the main hotels and Noboribetsu Date Jidaimura (登別伊達時代村).

From Noboribetsu Onsen Terminal, local buses also run to Tomakomai Station (苫小牧駅: 5 daily; 1.5hrs; ¥1100) via Shiraoi Kotan-mae (白老コタン前: near the Ainu Museum), Muroran-ko (室蘭港: frequent; 80min; ¥730) and Karurusu Onsen (カルルス温泉: 20min; ¥450).

Direct Highway Buses

There is a Donan Bus Onsen-go (温泉号) from Sapporo Station departing at 2pm for Ashi-yu iriguchi via Noboribetsu Onsen Terminal. Highway buses also run to Ashi-yu iriguchi from New Chitose Airport (2 daily; 1hr; ¥1370) and Toyako Onsen Terminal (2 daily; 1hr; ¥1700).
