Old Shimo-Yoichi Unjoya: The 19th-century trading post
The Shimo-Yoichi Unjoya (下ヨイチ運上家) was a trading post between Ainu and Japanese during the Edo period (19th-century), which has a household shinto altar and quaint garden. Ticket office is on the opposite side.
Today this historic trading post is Hokkaido's only Unjoya architecture. Ticket office is on the opposite side.
The old fishing town of Yoichi has a slightly different history from Otaru.
This is also the history of Hokkaido.
