Makkari: The pretty rural village close to Niseko

The pretty rural village of Makkari (真狩村) offers the good photogenic view of Yotei-zan (羊蹄山) from the center and its surrounding, located just southern foot of this great mountain. It is halfway between Niseko and Rusutsu.

This village is best explored on two wheels, hire a bike from the roadside station Makkari Flower Center (真狩フラワーセンター: Bicycles 10am-3pm Jul-Oct; ¥500), in front of the Kominkan bus stop. We recommend go around Hikari area (光地区), about 3km east of the roadside station.
