Town of Mineral Water: Kyogoku's Fukidashi Park
An easily accesible place from Kutchan near Niseko Mountains, Kyogoku Town (京極町) is famous for its mineral water (名水: meisui) springing from Yotei-zan. Surprisingly about 800,000 tourists (!) come to Kyogoku for drinking water each year.
The main attraction of town, Fukidashi Park (ふきだし公園) gushing out the 80,000 tons of mineral water every day, stocked by the mountain for decades.
At the entrance gate, there is a roadside station Meisui-no-sato Kyogoku (名水の里きょうごく: 8am-6pm, to 5pm Nov-Apr) with a 24-hour car park. It is a 15-minute walk west on Prefectural Road 478 from Kyogoku bus terminal.
