Bibai Tomei Park: Cherry-blossom viewing (hanami)

If you have a chance to visit Bibai in early to mid May, stretch your legs to Sorachi Region’s top cherry-blossom viewing spot (hanami) of Tomei Park (東明公園) on a hill.

There is an observation tower with great sakura views.

The VIVA Bibai Pipa-no-yu Yurin-kan (VIVA美唄 ピパの湯 ゆ〜りん館), close to Tomei Park, features a cave-like open-air bath with rural views. It has a modern hotel, restaurant (11.30am-2pm & 5-8pm) and park golf courses (¥500). Local buses run from JR Bibai Station (15min; ¥200).
