Nikka Whisky Yoichi Distillery: Tasting Japanese malt whiskies

Founded by Taketsuru Masataka (Massan) in 1934, this traditional Scottish-style distillery is home to Japanese malt whiskies. Massan was studied for whisky making in Scottland and married with Jessie Roberta Crown (Rita). Yoichi has the necessary conditions for distillery construction such as cool climate, peat, clean air and water. The distillery boasts coal-fired pod stills and a whisky museum.

You can taste three brands of whisky on the 2nd floor of Nikka Kaikan.
