Sapporo Nakajima Park: Ideal place for Cross-country skiing or drinking beer

Popular with families and artists, this oasis of green (中島公園) contains sizable pond (rental boat ¥600 per 40min), historic buildings, a concert hall, puppet theater and literary museum. You can relax with a drink at the open-air beer garden or cross-country skiing from the Nakajima Sports Center (中島体育センター: 10am-4pm Jan-Mar; Free). The park is directly connected to Nakajima-koen Station on the Nanboku subway line.

Note: solo female travelers avoid walking in the park at night.
